Classification of economic regions

Economic region is a regional classification (standard) for the level between county and municipality . Economic regions 2020 replaces previous versions due to changes made by the region- and municipality reform as of 1.1.2020. The main purpose of the classification is to constitute an appropriate level for the publishing of statistics, but it shall also correspond to the NUTS 4-level in EU's regional classification. Because of the latter requirement, the regions should not overlap the county borders.

Economic regions 2020

New version of economic regions is created due to splitting of 3 counties and 1 municipality. This leads to a code change in the affected economic regions. Municipality 1507 Ålesund is divided into 1508 Ålesund (becomes part of 15003 Ålesund) and 1580 Haram (becomes part of 15004 Ålesund omland).
