The production of health statistics requires that the various types of institutions are divided according to definitions in the Norwegian health legislation. Municipal health and care services are covered by the Act relating to the municipal health services, which relates to nursing homes and dwellings with 24 hour care, whereas other municipal institutions are covered by the Act relating to social services.
