Classification of regional breakdown of house prices - House price index

The House price index uses four different price zones. Subindices for 20 different combinations of house type, geographical zone and type of ownership is calculated and weighted together to the different total indices. Average square metre prices are calculated per county and three of the largest municipalities: Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim.

Sub-indices for three housing classes and eleven regions are calculated by using the hedonic method. These 33 sub-indices are weighted into total indices for each region and for the country as a whole.
